I know that the Tucson Show is still really far, but is a so gigantic Show, it implies so much stuff, that never will be too early to launch it.
Also, the people of the Main Show has been so kind to send to me the Show poster as well as the statehood poster for the Arizona’s Centennial with the permission to publish it, that I can't resist to open this thread already and publish this two great posters.
By the way, if you want to know more about the Wulfenite of the Show´s poster you can find some other details here ->

Cleared this with Jordi in advance...
We will be vacating a really nice guest house in the eastern foothills of Tucson at the end of February...near Skyline and Kolb/Canyon Ranch...30 minutes from TCC, 10 from Westward Look. The owner is a friend and would love to rent it out during the show
It's 2 bedrooms, with living room, 3/4 kitchen (fridge, microwave, hotplate, gass BBQ), full bath, pool...and a spectacular view of the eastern Catalinas and Rincons.
She is asking $1500 for the first half of the month (Feb 1-15) and longer is easily negotiable.
If this is of interest to someone (or someones who want to share and save some serious $) send me a personal message and I will put you in touch with her

I can second Peter's description re the views and comfort, as we just spent a couple nights with the Megaws there. Extremely nice place, if you don't care about being close to downtown.

Quick question which I am hoping someone here has the answer to...
At the TGMS Show are the 33st Annual FM-TGMS-MSA Mineralogical Symposium and Arthur Roe Memorial Micromount Symposium Seminars open to all attendees?
I am working on a post for my Tucson blog and am currently working on Seminars and Events...
Thanks in advance!
Robyn

Robyn...all talks, seminars and symposia at the TGMS Show are open to anyone attending the show....the $10 admission fee to the show covers it all

Tucson time. In few days everything and everybody will be concentrate in the biggest, longest and craziest world's Mineral Show!
What's up this year? I don't know, but we will see it soon. The only (almost) certain is that the group of mines of Huanggangliang in China will be one of the highlights of the Show and the number of novelties from there will increase with species like, for example, Tremolites, Danalites and some nice association of Prase Quartz with gemmy octahedral Fluorite like the specimen of the photo.
More to come...

PS: I moved to this thread all posts of the former thread of vic rzonca "Tucson 2012 Warm-up" in order to do the same as past year, so one main thread with participation of everybody and sharing here thoughts and images! ;-)

Already in Tucson just a quick note to comunicate that the weather here is wonderful and that although the world's penible circumstances, for some misterious reason here (and in the rest of the major Mineral Shows) the atmosphere is special, calid, like nothing bad could happen in this island of "rocks".
Just arrived, the eyes of the majority of the collectors shine as when we were youngs and we expected the arrival of Santa Claus, with the difference that here the people don't expect that coveted game, but that coveted unique specimen ;-)

Sunrise this morning on the Catalina Mountains, north of town. Great start to a day of pricing flats of minerals. Tomorrow the real fun begins as we open the sales room!

Tucson 01/28/2012
What can I say? I crossed Tucson from North to South and from East to West and what I can communicate is a curious situation in which most of the rooms in the TTC - Inn Suites are already open and most of the rooms in the other hotels are still closed, which is strange because what happens usually is the opposite. What does it mean? I don't know, but is what happens...
For the moment the number of novelties is extremely limited and mostly concentrated in the group of mines of the Huanggangliang mining area, Mongolia. According to Berthold Ottens there are a HUGE number of mines there, and not all of them are skarns (silver mines too he said!) and the number of new species that this giant group of mines could produce in the future could be a new El Dorado for mineralogy.
Luckily, another important find was mined recently, a species not reported before in one of the most important mines in the world, and the quality of that species is quite good. Please let me keep silent about this find until Tuesday-Wednesday, I promise to give all details then.
More to come...
