PostPosted: Apr 20, 2009 06:36    Post subject: Discovery of the rare species Kentrolite in Peyrebrune, France

All our French members and readers will be happy to know that in November 2008, in the classic mine of Peyrebrune, well known by its Fluorites, a small pocket was found in the higher levels of the Rivet Quarry. This pocket produced a pinkish-reddish material accompanied by a black material.
After analysis we discovered that the pinkish-reddish material is Rhodochrosite, and still more interesting, the black material is Kentrolite, a rare silicate of manganese and lead, that as far as we know, never was found on this site.

I add some images of the find and from both species.

Jordi
