Hi John,
I just finished reading a book written by a friend of yours, M. Bariand (former curator of the Pierre & Marie Curie's University). There's a special chapter telling stories about how he acquired minerals for the museum.
There's a story about a great Magnesite law from Brazil in which you were involved. I would love to here more about that story is you have some time.
Thanks

I am very sorry Chris, but I cannot recall any additional details. It was not a difficult gesture to make because there were so many fine minerals to buy and we did not feel that we needed it. Pierre, on the other hand, wanted it very much, so we released our hold on the piece. That is as much as I can remember. _________________ John S. White

Hi John,
Thanks for your quick answer. Apparently from what he wrote, it was an easier time for curators to buy fine minerals at a reasonable prices than today. On this point he seems to have the same opinion than yours.
The book has several other such a stories. I recommend every reader of the FMF who speaks French to have a look at it. Hope you'll enjoy.
