HelIo!

I choose a tourmaline from Vietnam - my country as the first photo to start my topic.

I acquired this tourmaline this year, when I traveled in Vietnam to visit my family and passed the Vietnamese new year there. I had it by chance !

This tourmaline has the "Usambara" Effect - Color Change.

(For information, the dice's size is 1,5 cm)

Hi, Tran, Carles, List

Just curious, but Ushambara effect has not only been seen in tourmalines from Ushambara?

Tran, in your tourmaline I see not the reds that Ushambara effect produces...

May anyone be so kind to help?

With best wishes

Lluís

Beautiful Tran
I am glad you are on our list for personal reasons. I have enjoyed this list because it unites many of us across the globe. You are special because I was in Vietnam during the unhappier times of the late 60's and early 70's. Under much less enjoyable circumstance. No matter what happened we are united in our humanity and love of minerals and that is good enough for me now that years have passed. Welcome to the group.

Hi, Tran

My deepest congratulations!

Very nice effect!
And very nice crystal!

Till now what I have seen on Ushambara specimens are just broken crystals, with some faces.
Your is first full crystal I have seen, and of course, not from Ushambara!

Again, my congratulations

With best wishes

Lluís

Thank you for all of your messages !, specially Mark for your warm thought about Vietnam. Forturnately, I am in the new generation and did not spend the difficult time !

As you, I appreciate this forum not only because it unites us, but also I can "travel" via your topics, I did read and watch the "mineral shows by Gail Spann", "trip and museum visits", and members's collections. Hope one day to meet the members there.

Sorry for the photos quality ! I did my max...

Warm regards,

I like the titanite and have pieces somewhat similar with chlorite on the surface. Many of my Alpine samples come this way.

Sorry, but you are not allowed by the system to leave the message body empty. However, this must not be a big problem. Just write something like "Here are several more photos..." or, still better, fill it with a detailed description of the specimen(s) figured in your pictures.

Hello Mike,

Thank you! I enjoy making the mineral photos, but it is not easily to take "something special" on the photo! Eventhough my pictures are blur sometime, happy that you still enjoy them.
