Jolyon says it is a 100 percent real, without a doubt it is genuine.

That's excellent. Personally I think it's much nicer to have a specimen on matrix than a floater.

No upset here, was actually amused as you might note from my bubble gum retort! It was a legit question that you asked. I probably wouldn't put a fake on here, just for future reference. We pretty much do our darndest to scope everything and the few times we have seen anything suspicious we refuse the mineral.
It's probably going to get harder to tell, they are getting really good at faking these days.Cheers everyone!

The fluorite is cuter than all heck==one of those weird and wonderful pieces that show up every so often. They're fun.

I can understand Jolyon missing the bubblegum, the double-stick tape and the Gorilla glue, but the duct tape?

Hi Gail
Go! That curious, is a section just for girls? This is the first time I see something similar and it's fun, I'll have to put here pictures of my collection (in a new message)
Your collection is amazing!
I was looking at the pictures and I had to go to the kitchen to grab a mop and bucket to clean the drool from my mouth falling to the ground.
I have seemed Homer Simpson (Arrrgghhhh. .. beautiful crystals ...) :-)
And the paintings are beautiful, I too love to paint, but do not paint as well as you do it.
I particularly liked the Phosphophyllite of Bolivia, have a color, brightness and transparency are magnificent and fantastic hemimorphites!
I admire your collection, it's beautiful!!

Thanks, I also like the montage photo. Our son is really stepping up his photography and is published quite often these days. He is a mineral dealer and a school teacher also. We admire his perspective.
Speaking of which, he brought us this fine Millerite to consider. We did end up buying it as it is truly something we enjoy. Turns out it was published in Rock and Minerals at one time, Connoisseur's Choice, 1995 July/August issue, page 256.
8.1 cm by 10.2 cm.
Road cut on US-27, Halls Gap, Lincoln county, Kentucky.
Oh, and I took this photo below.

Pyrrhotite (thick brassy pseudo-hexagonal, VERY rare) England Westgate, Weardale, North Pennines, County Durham Cambokeels Mine (Cammock Eals Mine), Slitt vein, from the Zinc flats very large Pyrrhotite xls (80x65mm) and 10-11mm thick throughout, wavy brassy pseudo-hexagonal stacked xl plates; a group of flat tabular terminated crystals with a metallic bronze sheen and a rippled effect across the very smooth faces. 8.0x6.5x2.3 Greenbank, Lindsay; Iron Sulphide
This pyrrhotite is "one of the finest examples" and is "the largest crystal found."; Greenbank label says: "Specimen size 9cm x 6.5cm- a group of flat tabular terminated crystals with a metallic bronze sheen and a rippled effect across the very smooth faces. Collected fro the Zinc flats, Slitt vein, Cambokeels Mine, Eastgate, Weardale, County Durham, Land of the Prince Bishops in 1990 by miner J. Forster of Stanhope." (shortly before it completely flooded); part of big Greenbank collection suite acquired "superb bright tabular crystals (of pyrrhotite) up to 3cm across, typically with curved faces, obtained here, rank amongst the best examples of the mineral ever found in Britain."
Joe Budd photo.

My husband writes the above as part of our catalogue. It shows how detailed he gets, and that is just a small part of what he puts in about each piece. Anyhow, love this piece! Gail |

This is a lovely Linarite and significant as Bryce Wright sold to the British Museum as the first linarite known in England. ( 1843 )
Roughton Gill, Caldbeck Fells, Cumberland, England
Size 9.2 x 8.9 x 4.7 cm.
Ex Lindsay Greenbank, ex Ralph Sutcliffe, Ex Richard Barstow, Ex British Natural History Museum, Bryce Wright Senior.
( love the line up of previous caretakers of this piece! )
The colour is spectacular. Truly a joy to have in our collection.

Hi Gail,
Always impressed by your collection (far larger than mine). Would you mind telling us how many specimens you & Jim have in your collection ?
