well I found this stone in meadow valley cal. when i was 16 the first rock i picked up and started my collection with. well going through sum old boxes i found it so i gave it a quick cut to see what it was i figured it was some sort of volcanic rock its very porous and sandy inside at 40x you can see silver specks in it. tyvm

A sandy rock you said? Ok it's always difficult to make a sure diagnosis from a photo, but in my opinion it looks like an arenaria, a sedimentary (not volcanic) rock. If anybody wants to help me some more, he/she is welcome!
