We have so much to see from Cornwall, one of the great classic regions for UK minerals. So let's see what we can add - I expect to see some wonderful material.

A dark brown massive siderite with several vugs full of small crystals to about 3 mm. What is most interesting of this specimen is the old glued label that reads "Chalybite, Carn Brea, Illogan. Bought of a miner, July, 1874" as can be seen in the third picture. From the Carn Brea Mine, Illogan, Cornwall, United Kingdom, 7.5x5.3x3.6 cm.

Today's specimen is a large matrix coated on one side by powdery chlorite and elongated crystals of cassiterite ("sparable tin" variety) to about 8x3 mm. From Camborne District, Cornwall, United Kingdom, 13.7x9x7.5 cm.

Another Cornish classic, "jackstraw"cerussite from Pentireglaze mine. This mine was famous for very large cerussites of this type. In the early 1800s, there are records of specimens being hand-carried on stretchers upwards of 30 miles due to their fragility.
Description: |

Group of 1cm bertrandite crystals with quartz and chlorite. Ex Richard Barstow collection, exceptional for the UK.
Collected in 1978. I was collecting with Dick when we got this and lost the toss to decide which of us was going to have it! Dick Barstow died tragically young, there are a lot of memories in this rock.

A great specimen, Ian. Association of minerals with history and people adds hugely to their interest and this is a particularly resonant example.

I love specimens with some history Ru, it doesn't necessarily make them better, but it does make them more interesting. This is a Talling chalcotrichite that I traded with the BM London. I have since trimmed some of the quartz matrix away
