Wavellite from High Down Quarry Filleigh, the type location, from where it was first described in 1805. Also a variscite from there.
Although High Down was the first recoded British occurrence of variscite, where it was reported only in 1964, it was actually illustrated in 1805 together with wavellite in Sowerby's British Minerals (Vol 2 - plate 134), but not then recognised as being different.

Fluorite on Albite and Smoky Quartz Lundy Island, Devon, England, UK Specimen 24mm x 14mm tall A similar specimen to the previous, the purple fluorite 'cube' is slightly smaller, also slightly etched and with corner modifications. There is a tiny (1mm) topaz crystal just below on the right of the fluorite crystal; interestingly under the microscope it appears to have a purple fluorite crystal included within! |

Description: |
Fluorite, Topaz, Microcline, Smoky Quartz, Albite. Lundy Island, Devon, England, UK 60mm x 58mm x 21mm A real mixture of minerals from a small pegmatitic pocket in the granite. The purple fluorite takes the form of an elongated cube with one face 16mm long, though not without damage. Topaz crystal lying flat on the microcline is 8 x 4mm. The tiny little 'starbursts' of black acicular crystals on the micrcline - I'm fairly certain these are tourmaline var. schorl. |

The schorl seems to be partly included within the microcline as well as the smoky quartz and the topaz! |

Jealous Mike, I never found any fluorite there.
Here is a bustamite, collected 1983, from the British Rail quarry at Meldon.

Fluorite on quartz from Bere Alston, West Devon. Not as lovely as the Russell one from the NHM, but an historic specimen and one of the few I have ever found available. Acquired from Tim Sherburn at Tucson, 2022. Has an old label from the Allegheny College Department of Geology giving the location as "Bualstone, Cornwall."
