Thanks for the great photos, but I always thought the pink topaz occurs in a marble, not a pegmatite.

The photos look like liight coloured veins in a hornfels and could indicate a contact-metasomatic origin of the Topaz.

All of the matrix specimens from here that I have seen appear to be associated with a carbonate, presumably calcite.

John, correct! and also some quartz crystals.
Ikram is perhaps using the word pegmatite as describing "large grain size" and of course this deposit is not a granitic pegmatite as we often shorten to pegmatite.
Ikram, you can call these topaz bearing calcite veins.

Thank you so much Ikram for the images and for posting them here too!

Peter

Hi.
Thank you so much for appreciating my photos & your great comments.
Am really sorry all of my wrong. These are topaz bearing calcite veins not granitic pegmatite.

Cheers.

Thanks for the clarification. The matrix of the specimens I have seen fit with calcite veins in a hornfels rock. Are the topaz crystals only found in the pictured mine or are there scattered localities in the area ?
Thanks again for sharing the pictures !

There are two main topaz produce localities in Katlang.
One the Ghundao Hill (Ghundo mean small single mountain in local language) this locality which is famous high class pink topaz .The Ghundao hill can be seen in my photos , second Shamozai localities in katlang which produce golden , pink-golden topaz ,the veins are spread over though long area in Shamozai.

Hi Ikram, thank you for the photos. I have admired the beautiful pink Topaz from Pakistan for many years. It is nice to see where they come from.
