Hi Jordi,
thanks. Like always when it comes to this topic, there are different opinions. The mineral was first described by Freiesleben in 1815 from the Carolinen Shaft near Sangerhausen. However, the chemical compound was not clear by then. This was fixed by Covelli in 1827 using Material from Mt Vesuvius. The name covellite was given by Dana in 1850. Since a type locality refers to the first description and not the first valid analysis, it should be Sangerhausen.

The tabular galena comes from the Ameise mine too, only the Chalco from Schmiedeberg.
