Hi all,
i just read James' great idea for a thread about a mineralogical journey through the United Kingdom. We already have such a board for the different U.S. states, and i love the idea of dedicating such a board to a country and its regions.
So why not doing this for Germany, too?! Our country is (or at least was) one of the mineral-richest in the world and has so many famous mining regions that it could be worth starting a board for a MINERALOGICAL TRIP THROUGH GERMANY. Of course only if Jordi an the other forum members agree. But i think many of you own some wonderful German minerals and we all could work together to show them region by region.
IF (!) we agree to start such a board, i would recommend to divide it into the following regions:
1: BLACK FOREST
2: ERZGEBIRGE and rest of Saxony
3: HARZ MOUNTAINS
4: WÖLSENDORF and rest of Bavaria
5: SIEGERLAND and SAUERLAND
6: EIFEL and HUNSRÜCK
7: Rest of Germany
What do you think about my idea?
Cheers!

Excellent Tobi...perhaps later we could do the same about Spain and its regions, the Country with the most ancient mining in the world. _________________ Damnati ad Metalla |

Sure, there a lot of countries with a long mining history and a large number of famous localities. It's up to the forum masters - i would welcome this idea!
So Jordi and all the others who have to decide - could you establish more of such boards, e.g. for Germany? |

Why not Tobi, but believe me, FMF is a Forum not a Database, so each of these kind of boards is technically exhausting and demands a lot of time, effort and help, so please lets finish the submission of UK and when I have the chance I will discuss with you in privacy the possibility to do it.

Spain (and Portugal and Morocco) already exists in the Spanish FMF, so to avoid duplicate efforts, better maintain them only there (specially now with the implemented Google translator in every page):
A mineralogical trip through the regions of Spain and Portugal
A mineralogical trip through the regions of Morocco _________________ Audaces fortuna iuvat |

Of course, Jordi, i didn't want to cause even more work. I know that it needs time and effort, so no hurry! I agree that it's better to finish the UK before starting another board. There's only one single UK specimen in my collection, so i can't help in illustrating that board - but the more i'll enjoy the fine minerals that are published there. Let me know if you think it's time for Good Old Germany :-)
